Purple Reign Queen Elizabeth is celebrating her 90th birthday today (April 21), and in a seriously strange coincidence, a tribute to the royal figure set to take place at Niagara Falls now holds a second meaning for today's passing of musical iconPrince
What a buzz! Great interview on Author Chat Show with host Lynda Brown. Her show attracts some million and a half listeners all over the world. Lynda is a 'lady of a certain age' (Happy Birthday for Sunday, Lynda) but she reinvented herself and is now up to speed with all the technology needed to operate her own broadcasting and publishing company. The best thing of all - and I should know having been a BBC broadcaster - is that she is a great interviewer - Her secret - she had actually read the book she was talking to me about - Seven Steps to Fabulous. Thank you, Lynda,
YOU are FABULOUS>

Leaving the Hillary fundraiser, I fell into conversation with a fellow journalist who unexpectedly invited me to a performance of 'Cabaret' at the Arsht Center in downtown Miami. We didn't know each other but he carried a copy of his newspaper with a front page story and his byline featuring an interview with one of the actors in the show. In a spontaneous moment, I agreed. You have to trust your intuition sometimes - I'm glad I did. The show that I had seen several times before on stage and even auditioned for last year, was an excellent production by the Roundabout Theatre Company who have a home base in Studio 54, New York. There was a weird irony in having transitioned straight from one political rally for the 2016 Presidential Race to the 1929 setting in Berlin, Germany. 'Cabaret', an enduring classic, delivers a powerful message in an entertaining and provocative fashion through the insightful music of songwriting team Kander and Ebb, the risque antics of the Kit Kat Band of lingerie wearing young ladies and the outrageous compere (played by actor Randy Harrison). However this is no feel-good musical, The issues feel too real and eerily contemporary. The greed portrayed in 'Money, Money,Money' resonates with so many current problems and the discriminations, exclusions and undermining climate of fear and violence produce a thought provoking and at times extremely uncomfortable show. Come to the 'Cabaret" - but prepare to be shocked out of your comfort zone.
Thank you to my engaging companion who proved to be a real Gentleman of the Press.
Don't you love it when art mirrors life ? My new novel -to be launched this week - features a female Democratic Presidential candidate arriving for a fundraiser on Miami Beach. I share the first couple of pages here.
DARK HOLE IN MY SOUL
ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE
Miami Beach 2015
“They’re here. The Lady has arrived.”
A faceless member of the senator’s staff who had been on duty at the mansion all day, adjusted his mirrored sunglasses and hissed out of the side of his mouth into a concealed radio.
A high-speed cavalcade appeared. Leading the pack leather clad motorcycle outriders on Kawasaki motorbikes, followed by the black and white cars of the Miami Beach police department. Blue lights flashed, sirens shrieked. Their demanding presence cleared the fast moving traffic and allowed free passage to the American-flag-bearing black limousine that transported the Presidential candidate.
With the end of their fifteen-minute drive from Miami international airport in sight, the convoy made a sharp left off the MacArthur Causeway. The limo driver drew the attention of the candidate to the bay-crossing highway immortalized in countless action films. Scene of spectacular car chases and explosive multi-vehicle pile-ups.
He enjoyed passing on the information that the MacArthur causeway bounds the Port of Miami, home to one of the largest cruise terminals in the world, and opens up an exclusive entryway to the private gated community of Flame Island.
Jagged shards of lightning illuminated the Miami Beach waterfront and threw into stark relief the menacing cloud-filled sky as the sound of thunder rumbled ominously out over the ocean.
Rain began to fall and the tropical storm that had been threatening gave full vent to its avowed intention to obliterate all traces of the endlessly cheerful Florida sun.
President Clinton with a copy of the book recently - he promised to take it home to Hillary!
The First Lady of Song, Carole King again showed her support for Hillary Clinton by her appearance at last night's Miami fundraiser. Carol rocked it out with her signature song and the title of the musical that tells the story of her phenomenal and unprecedented musical success, 'Beautiful'. She followed the number up with 'I Feel the Earth Move' which she compared to the unstoppable movement of support for the Hillary campaign. The audience needed no urging to sing along to 'You've Got a Friend' Hillary indeed has a Friend in this icon of popular music, The wonderful Miss Carole King.
Hillary Fundraisr - Miami Hillary Clinton was back in Miami Tuesday though she is campaigning vigorously in New York. As soon as she took the podium at the fundraiser I attended along with a few hundred others in the Hilton Hotel, it was obvious that he

Would like to say that my mind was completely on the music at the International Festival but as always was also thinking of work. Became a little distracted by the obvious charms of the dramatic young Spanish flamenco dancer - he reminded me of my romantic hero Romero. Took the opportunity to talk to him after the show - sadly he didn't speak English and my Spanish has not progressed much beyond 'un pocco'. But he smiles a lot! Kind of like a male Mona Lisa. Enigmatic!
INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL Miami Dade Auditorium Sunday to a wonderful International Festival at the Miami-Dade auditorium. The cast of singers and dancers entertained the audience with the amazingly wide-ranging musical work of composer Ernesto Lecuona. We
Stunned by the outstanding performance of Florida Grand Opera's 'Passenger'. The entire cast is amazing. In the middle of the hell of Auschwitz some of the most beautiful arias ever written. Voices of angel filled the stage. The audience held their collective breath and yet moments of true humanity enlightened even the most brutal of human experiences. Love shone through the darkness when the character of Marta met her former fiance and worried about her shaven-headed appearance after two years in a concentration camp. His declaration that she was 'still the most beautiful girl in the world' was divine. Beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder it is embedded deep in the soul and spirit. It is deeply disturbing and emotionally painful to face the truth of such recent history but this momentous opera challenges us all - Never, ever forget. Never forgive.

Travelling in Southern Spain, the Costa Blanca. Strange feeling to be back in a territory I have known intimately over decades. Have previously set a novel here, a romantic thriller, 'Love Mother Love Daughter', am now conducting research for the follow up - working title 'Love Refuses to Die'. A satisfying feeling of coming home, I feel close to the main characters Julianne and Kira Mae, who I left here 2 years ago when the story came to 'The end'. Much has changed their lives have now moved on in exciting and unexpected ways. Emotional experiences and imagination on full alert for locations, characters, situations and atmosphere...The story is developing, I am excited and falling in love all over again.
