FROST IN LONDON

6/29/2016

Amidst all the Brexit doom and gloom - one bright spot. CNBC broadcaster Wilfred Frost. A class act. Son of the late Sir David Frost and Lady Carina - he has looks, authority, charisma and his family home is a fairy tale castle in a picturesque town in the heart of Southern England. Wilfred's father David was one of the best-known broadcasters ever on both sides of the Atlantic and a perfect gentleman. Was lucky enough to call him a friend and be a guest on many of his television shows back in the day. Wilfred follows nobly in his father's footsteps and does the Frost name - and Britain proud.

Anderson Cooper & Gloria Vanderbilt

I rarely watch popular morning magazine programs like Live Kelly - prefer Business news/BBC or CNN but this morning couldn't resist Anderson Cooper and his super famous mother Gloria Vanderbilt.
Anderson can do no wrong with me - and I LOVE the Jean Queen, mom Gloria. She went to Hollywood at 17 and dated Errol Flynn and Frank Sinatra. Check out their new book
Rainbow Comes and Goes.

A thoroughly enjoyable read..the characters are well rounded and believable and the story line weaves seamlessly between the generations and such diverse locations as Ireland, New York and Miami. The author has a wonderful eye for detail and captures the mood of the characters perfectly. Nothing is off limits as the plot takes aim at addiction, religion and the relentless pursuit of money and fame. I really did not want to finish this book.

HASH(0x9284fb4c) out of 5 stars Her hopeful but dismal situation is contrasted some years later with her beautiful offspring’s meteoric rise to fame as celebrit 29 May 2016
By Virginia Ferguson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Don’t let the title of Ellen Frazer-Jameson’s Dark Hole in My Soul make you think this might be another depressing book. Quite the contrary. It’s an exciting romp around the life and times of one Kathleen (Kathie) O’Shaunessey whose early Irish childhood poverty growing up in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, is ameliorated only by her melodious voice and beauty. Her hopeful but dismal situation is contrasted some years later with her beautiful offspring’s meteoric rise to fame as celebrity singing idol, Serena Perez, reality show host, doyen of the gliteratti of New York and Miami. Readers get a glamorous tour of luxury hotels, 5 star restaurants and spas, not to mention Miami’s historic role in Cuban/American relations.

Although the stereotypes abound and the action is at times recklessly paced leaving behind some scorched earth of a plot, this is an emotional book that explores the unspoken perspective of unwed mothers, drug kings, the power and cruelty of the Catholic Church, the seriousness of addiction. Resonances of the world of Michael Jackson, Prince and Judy Dench in Philomena crop up, bringing a timeliness to the novel.

The story is seen through the eyes of many different characters but begins and ends with Kathleen. Frazer-Jameson does her research and gives readers a fly on the wall view of the world of pop with all its hype and pomp. “Serena was a pop sensation…The technical team running the sound and light console that looked like the flight of a jet liner flashed giant images…She was surrounded with ephemeral visuals, chandeliers, candles, and sparkling moonbeams which added magic and mystery to transform a human being into a phenomena.” This is just what we want to visualize – glamor larger than life, as we mere mortals know it.

The book is a high end fashion magazine with human interest stories within, just what the doctor ordered for your next summer getaway.
HASH(0x92546c9c) out of 5 stars A ride on an emotional roller-coaster! 4 Jun. 2016

Format: Paperback
It has been a long time since I enjoyed a book as much I did 'Dark hole in my soul', I am not normally one for reviews but in this case I felt that I simply had to write one!   The story had me gripped from the opening scene when the author seductively invites you to enter the impressive world of the Miami elite! The main character Serena is absolutely gorgeous, I delighted in the elaborate descriptions of her amazing designer outfits, the decadent parties that she attended and her exciting, dangerous romance. However, what was so different about this story is that it is not simply one of glitz and glamor, instead the reader is exposed to two starkly different worlds. One of riches, glamour and status and the other of poverty and misfortune. Right from the beginning of the book I was emotionally moved by the contrast between Serena's lifestyle and her birth mothers. This desperate reality only becomes harder to bear as the tale unravels and you learn more of her mother's tragic tale. The author crafts a tale that has you indulging in luxury and glamour one minute and feeling a deep seated pull of your heartstrings the next. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a book that will take you on an emotional journey. Absolutely brilliant!

Ellen's book is a great read for fans or Romance novels. My preferred genre is suspense, but I'm glad I got the opportunity to check this one out. Since I am a Florida resident, and have also spent a good deal of time in NYC, it was exciting to share the characters' adventures in both these familiar settings. Highly recommended!

SHaving finished first draft of Love Refuses to Die, a romantic thriller, treated myself to a mini vacation. The glamor of the luxury brand name, Vanderbilt , always appeals so I with headed for the Vanderbilt Beach Resort on West coast of Florida. Old Florida style: a complete delight, feet in the sand dining and wonderful food. The Turtle Club is family run (not Vanderbilt - the name stretches back to the fifties) and the staff make everyone feel relaxed, welcome and at home. So much so, I may move in! Also visited a fun theater experience in Fort Myers, Murder Mystery train, five star gourmet dining and an interactive theatre performance - this season show the is Candidates for Murder. Rounded vacation time off with a nostalgic visit to Tin City, Naples, and exotic waterfront dining. If you go, and I highly recommend it - check out two of my new favorite shops American Art & Pottery - Rainforest Artisans - and Jungle Fever, boutique with imaginative and artistic range of ladies fashion. I call these wonderful experiences - Research. I love my chosen profession. Writer seeking creative inspiration!!!!
