DATELINE FLORIDA. There is a sombre mood in Miami and the Beaches. The catastrophic condo collapse in the resort of Surfside is casting a dark cloud over the city and surrounding areas along with the smoke from smouldering fires in the Champlain Towers and lighting strikes, thunderstorms and rain lashed downpours. What happened is so shocking, it is hard to comprehend. No cause or explanation is yet forthcoming.
Residents end the long summer day, go to bed and wake in the middle of the night to find their building a pile of rubble. No survivors have been found for several days now. All around the site of the tragedy, locals are looking at their own buildings, especially those built on sand, close to the ocean, and asking, "Could it happen here?" Our lives really are so uncertain these days, all hopes and dreams and plans built on shifting sand. Tomorrow is never promised!!! Hold your loved one extra close !!!!! Super exciting day - two of my books have gone global. Once Upon a Lie (C'era una volta una bugia) is now available in Italian and Seven Steps to Fabulous (Siete Pasos Hecia lo Fabulosos) has a Spanish Release. Another step in the quest to be a truly International author. Who knows where this development leads? Opportunities abound when you become a published author.
Here in Miami Beach, hurricane season has started - cultural season takes a break while snow birds return to cooler spots up north and the kids finish school for the summer. After disruption for well over a year, we may have had to stay home but the anxiety has taken its toll on many people. Florida is open, it is time to get back to the new normal life we dreamed about and have fun. I have a season finale planned for myself - sit back and take stock - work on my books which require processes for essential business like international translations and updated administrative processes. But, for a couple of weeks at least - if you need me I will be at the pool - reflecting, meditating and gathering strength and energy for the next stage of this always exciting creative journey. Someone please pass me my hat, sun glasses and suntan lotion. Bring on the summer....
