As the world turns - I've switched countries again - now back in Spain. Love it but it is unbelievably hot. Even London was in the middle of a heatwave when I was there last week. When I left, Miami was enjoying its usual summer weather of sunshine and showers. The Costa Blanca where I am currently, (hope you're keeping up - it takes me a while each morning to remember where I am ) has not seen rain for weeks - and none is predicted. Holidaymaker continue to baste themselves on the beach, like the locals, I seek out shade.
I stay indoors all day working until early evening when I venture out to walk by the ocean. Having put my new novel through two further drafts - this week will finish research questions and send to editor. Then I will travel up into the mountains to cool off.

Edit, edit, edit! I am returning to the job of editing the third draft of my new book after having set it aside to advise other writers on their work. However proficient or experienced a writer you are, the editing process is crucial. Over the last couple of weeks I have edited a treasure trove of works, a couple from authors who attended my classes at The Standard. The range of creativity is wonderful to behold - a first time time novel set in the high society world of Miami Beach by a contemporary and talented new writer whose first language is Russian; a children's book full of magic and legend and a deep spiritual anti-bullying message and a specialist academic paper in a medical field I know little about, but I do know how to make words flow. My mantra as always is Words on Paper, you can't edit a blank page. The more you write, the more you will open the channel to inspiration.
