The 10th Anniversary of The Met : Live in HD is a wonderful way to participate in the New York opera season. For a modest ticket price (under $25) cinemas all over the world screen spectacular performances featuring the top flight opera stars. The first screening - which I attended at a cinema on Miami Beach -
Il Travatore featured the divine soprano Anna Netrebko and one of the young and upcoming male tenors Yonghoon Lee. Three hours of pure operatic heaven - with a front row seat, subtitles and backstage interviews with the stars, in some ways even better than being there - because you have a close up view - without opera glasses. Like watching a ball game on television as opposed to attending the event. Upcoming performances include Otello, The Magic Flute and Madame Butterfly. At a cinema near you. For me, opera is the richest of feasts, a five star musical meal that satisfies, inspires and plays on in the mind's eye for days after the the original experience. All of the senses are engaged and everyday thoughts are banished. Life is more grand, more dramatic, more creative. Living Life Large- the ultimate high. I LOVE IT!!!!!
