Stunned by the outstanding performance of Florida Grand Opera's 'Passenger'. The entire cast is amazing. In the middle of the hell of Auschwitz some of the most beautiful arias ever written. Voices of angel filled the stage. The audience held their collective breath and yet moments of true humanity enlightened even the most brutal of human experiences. Love shone through the darkness when the character of Marta met her former fiance and worried about her shaven-headed appearance after two years in a concentration camp. His declaration that she was 'still the most beautiful girl in the world' was divine. Beauty is not only in the eye of the beholder it is embedded deep in the soul and spirit. It is deeply disturbing and emotionally painful to face the truth of such recent history but this momentous opera challenges us all - Never, ever forget. Never forgive.
